A certified teacher, Ms. Akari Ueoka, and an experienced assistant teacher, Ms. Hina Okabe, will spend a week with ten children.

What are children going to learn?

Children will learn the following items through songs, games, worksheets, and activities
(contents are subject to change):

• Hiragana (Japanese alphabets) and how the Hiragana system is organized
• How to write one’s name in Japanese
• Basic greetings
• Basic classroom expressions
• Numbers
• Days of the week
• How to say one's birthday
• Colors
• Names of body parts
• Ko, So, A, Do words (words based on the physical distance from the speaker and the listener)
• How to ask, “What is it?” and to answer in a simple sentence
• How to ask, “Where is ____?” and to answer in a simple sentence
• How to make possessive nouns
• How to ask, “Whose is it?” and to respond in a simple sentence
• Vocabulary for everyday items that we use/see daily
• Distinguishing the verbs: arimasu and imasu (to be)
• A few basic adjectives
• A few basic verbs
• Japanese games
• Origami
• Japanese onomatopoeias
• Japanese culture (traditional clothing, food, architecture, Japanese gardens, holidays, etc.)

Cancellation Policy - Please take this into account when you sign up for the camp.

As a significant amount of the cost of the camp is invested long before the program date, refunds vary based on the amount of advanced notice you are able to provide.

If you need to withdraw your child from a camp, you must inform us in writing via email (info@akaritranslations.com).

- You will be refunded 70% of the fee minus the non-refundable $50 application fee ($183) for cancellations made more than 20 days prior to the first day of the camp (until 8 am of 7/5), or you will be refunded 100% if you secure another paying family who would take your child's spot. (Refund will be issued once the family's payment is cleared.)

- You will be refunded 40% of the fee minus the non-refundable $50 application fee ($83.20) for cancellations made between 15 and 19 days prior to the first day of the camp (until 8 am of 7/10), or you will be refunded 100% if you secure another paying family who would take your child's spot. (Refund will be issued once the family's payment is cleared.)

- No refunds will be administered for cancellations within 14 days of camp, or you will be refunded 100% if you secure another paying family who would take your child's spot. (Refund will be issued once the family's payment is cleared.)
