Math & Language Arts teacher for English-speaking children

Melinda Neuwirth

My name is Melinda.

I was born and (mostly) raised on Maui. After graduating from Seabury Hall in 1979, I attended Colorado State University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies in 1984. I then moved to California, where I was a Gymboree instructor for four years.

My passion for working with children motivated me to get my teaching certification at Sonoma State University in 1993.

It was then that I decided to return home to Maui, where I have had a rich career teaching our Keiki (which means children in the Hawaiian language). My first job on Maui was to develop an animal education program for Maui’s keiki, complete with live critters! I have since worked as a homeschool teacher (15 years combined between 2 families) and in public education as a Regular Education and SPED teacher. Finally, I have tutored K-6 grade students on and off throughout the years.
